The Colour INKspiration Challenge on Facebook always takes me out of my colour combo comfort zone, this one was no exception!
Woohoo! A quick update – this project turned out to be the winner 🙂

The challenge colours were Sweet Sugarplum, Wild Wasabi, Lemon Lime Twist and Fresh Fig. I usually like working with pinks and greens but using the Lemon Lime Twist and Wild Wasabi together was tricky! I had a bit of a mental block trying to come up with a plan, everything I tried just looked a bit flat. After throwing two attempts in the bin, I fell back on one of my favourite sets, the Jar of Love.

On my silicone craft mat, I mixed a couple of drops of Lemon Lime Twist into a tiny bit of the new Embossing paste. A quick smear with a pallet knife over the brick mask, lift the mask off and wallah, a textured brick wall! Love using this stuff! (it dries very quickly so wash all tools straight away)

I was a bit stuck as to what to use to colour the water in my jar, green or purple water was going to look like someone should have changed the water a week ago! I decided to stamp onto the Eastern Palace Lime Designer Series Paper instead, no water needed 🙂
The large flowers from the Jar of Love stamp set have Fresh Fig centres with Sweet Sugarplum outer petals stamped full strength on some and stamped off first for the lighter flower. The smaller flowers are Lemon Lime twist with full strength centres and stamped off for the lighter outer petals. I don’t have the Wild Wasabi ink pad (I know right!!?) but I did have it in a Stampin’ Write Marker. So for all the leaves, I have just coloured the stamps with the marker and stamped. All the pieces are die cut with the coordinating Everyday Jars Framelits.
It’s then just a matter of a bit of floral arranging. I find it can be helpful to arrange everything, then take a photo on my phone before dismantling it all and then following the photo to glue it back down. Otherwise nothing ever looks the same! (Even though I did this, I still ended up having to fill a hole with an extra flower, lol)
The ‘Happy’ sentiment is from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set. I just covered the “birthday” bit with a post-it note while I inked up the “happy” part. (Don’t forget to take the post-it note off before you stamp though!)
The die cut ‘Birthday’ at the bottom is part of the Happy Birthday Thinlits. I have simply cut the ‘Happy’ off the top after I’ve die cut it. Being able to do this makes it so much more versatile.
The finishing touches are a few rhinestones, a little glitter in the flower centres and then mounted onto a Fresh Fig mat and a Sweet Sugarplum base. I have also stamped the inside of the card just to carry the design through.
