Doing the Baby Wipe Swipe!

A quick, fun, slightly messy but satisfying and totally addictive background technique!  I came across a video last week that a fellow Demonstrator from Canada, Jackie Bultje, aka, the Pampered Stamper, shared.  It looked so easy but gave great results, so I had to try it out.

I needed a birthday card for my daughter (who turned 20 but still requested the unicorn from the Magical Day set!) so it was a great excuse to try and make a rainbow background.  As you can see, I got a little bit carried away!  I also needed to make 20 cards to swap with other demonstrators at an upcoming training event, so guess what everyone is getting!

As the name suggests, you simply dab a baby wipe onto an ink pad and swipe it across the paper.  Easy but so effective!  (video at the end of this post) For these I have used Daffodil Delight, Berry Burst and Bermuda Bay.

This is how the card turned out, my daughter loved it.

I used a heart shaped die from the sweet and sassy framelit set to make a frame which lies over the top of my swiped background.  The unicorn and glimmer paper clouds were then popped up with dimensionals to add to the floating effect.

The multicoloured  sentiment is done by colouring straight onto the stamp with Stampin’ write markers then stamping onto the cardstock.

Here is a quick video showing you how it’s done and a couple more examples.

Products Used:

Stamp set: Magical Day stamp & die bundle

Ink: Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Berry Burst

Colouring Tools: Stampin Write Markers, Water Colour Pencils

Cardstock: Whisper White, Bermuda Bay, Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper

Other: Sweet & Sassy Framelit Die, Dimensionals

I hope you give this technique a go, I would love to see your results!
